The first vote in 15 years on ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan takes place today in the US Senate, thanks to Senator Rand Paul.
The Senator has introduced the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to sunset the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force. This would repeal the authorization for use of force in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Rand will speak on the Senate floor at 11:40 AM concerning his amendment.
In a letter to supporters, Rand wrote:
These wars have gone on too long - over - 16 years. We should not bind another generation to a war started so long ago.
Trillions of dollars and many lives have been lost. It's time to end.-RW
Amendment loses 61-37.
