Koch Brothers Will Get Behind Legislative Effort to Extend DACA

Good news from one tentacle of the Kochtopus.

The political network of the beltarian billionaires Charles and David Koch is poised to back a bill protecting young undocumented immigrants from deportation, reports TheDaily Beast.

Spokespeople for the Koch network confirmed to The Beast that the network will press Congress for a legislative fix to the recently rescinded Obama order.

According to The Beast, the Kochs’ backing could provide a crucial boost to efforts to preserve DACA.

“The Seminar Network is committed to working with and encouraging lawmakers to come together to pass a durable solution into law,” said James Davis, a spokesman for that network, in a Wednesday email. “Our country has benefited tremendously from a history of welcoming people from all cultures and backgrounds. This is a hallmark of free and open societies.”

Of course, the libertarian perspective is not about "welcoming" people but about allowing private transactions. If people have, for example, a place to work and live, there can be no libertarian objection to their entering the country.

So while principled libertarians must point out the confused Koch network justification for DACA support, they can certainly welcome the help in maintaining  DACA.
