Ayn Rand's Reports to the FBI and J. Edgar Hoover

Rand, on the look out for communists by scouring book reviews.
Ayn Rand used to write to J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI, and report on suspected (from her perspective) commies. Often, she used book reviews she had read to identify communists.
