Mayor: Drebin, I don't want anymore trouble like you had last year on the South Side. Understand? That's my policy.
Frank: Yes. Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's *my* policy.
Mayor: That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of "Julius Caesar", you moron! You killed 5 actors! Good ones.
I saw the Public Theatre's Shakespeare In The Park "Julius Caesar" and thought it was great. I'm a big fan of Shakespeare but usually not fond of modern adaptations and particularly ones with political messages. The production did poke fun of Trump. Caesar/Trump did get disposed of by senators and associates in the Roman Senate. The parallels to today's time are striking. I interpreted the play as meaning the dangers that are unleashed upon a nation when a dissatisfied insider group tries to circumvent someone who they fear might do harm to their present world.
To quote the movie 'The Naked Gun' -
