As the Daily Mail notes, the last Catholics to live in the White House were John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie.
She spent time in prayer at the Vatican-affiliated Bambino Gesù (Baby Jesus) Hospital, and laid flowers at the feet of a statue of the Madonna.
She also prayed in the hospital chapel and read to a young Greek boy in need of a donor heart – holding his hand in the Intensive Care Unit while camera shutters snapped, according to the Daily Mail.

ReplyDeleteIt's not that easy to be a "practicing Catholic" if you "marry" a twice-divorced man. Even though Melania was never married before, Since marriage is indissoluble, (according to the church itself) https://www.google.com/amp/s/aleteia.org/2015/09/30/pope-francis-reaffirms-that-catholic-marriage-is-indissoluble/amp/ Trump would have had to jumped through some hoops in order for the trump marriage to Melania to have been considered valid. To my knowledge, Trump & Melania were not even married in the church.
ReplyDeleteI have a relative in this exact same situation. She had never been married but married a man who had been divorced twice previously . She went to the church to get married and they said they would need to investigate info about the man's two previous marriages, even though he was not even Catholic.
in my exampme the couple were proud and annoyed, and never submitted the info, and thus were not married in the church, - hence, she is not a practicing Catholic.
I am afraid that by this news Melania has opened a whole new can of worms for public fodder.
I don't know their particular situation, but the details will now surely be broached in the public sphere. I wish Melania the best in this regard of practicing her Catholic faith.
