It's Official: Homeland Security Chief Considering Separating Illegal Immigrant Kids From Parents

Trump and Homeland Security chief John Kelly

I first posted about this story on Saturday based on a Reuters report.

Reuters published this response from the agency:
In a statement to Reuters, DHS said: "The journey north is a dangerous one with too many situations where children - brought by parents, relatives or smugglers - are often exploited, abused or may even lose their lives.
"With safety in mind, the Department of Homeland Security continually explores options that may discourage those from even beginning the journey," the statement said.
A Trump fanboy's only defense was this:
But today, we have confirmation from Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, himself. The New York Post reports:
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says he’s considering a proposal to separate children from their parents who cross illegally from Mexico into the US.

“Yes, I am considering — in order to deter more movement along this terribly dangerous network — I am considering exactly that,” Kelly said in response to a question on CNN about reports about the possible change in policy.

“They will be well cared for as we deal with their parents.”

  1. Imagine that. It turns out that if I decide to commit a crime with my children in tow, I could be separated from them if I get caught. Will wonders never cease?

  2. Haven't Child "Protective" Services agencies been doing this for years regarding legal residents? Just another example of the state's attack on the family unit as a big threat to the state. It starts in one place and migrates to others.
