Is the US Getting Set to Nuke North Korea?

Donald Trump doesn't appear to be one for sweet talk and it doesn't look like he plans to sweet talk North Korean leader Kim Jong-un from escalating his military provocations. Sweet talking the nutjob to drop his guns would be the sane thing to do. Even John Wayne would try that first. But not Trump.

If sweet talk didn't work, taking Kim out via a CIA hit team would be the second alternative on my list but it looks like Trump is considering going nuclear---literally.

Remember, the United States said on Tuesday that it had begun deploying an advanced missile defense system in South Korea.

And reports come today that Trump is sending B-52s with nuclear bomb capability to the Korean peninsula.

South Korea and the US have also started their annual Foal Eagle military exercise.

A military official said 300,000 South Korean troops and 15,000 US personnel are taking part in the operation.

Kim is a crazy pest but going nuclear is a horrifically blunt manner to deal with the pest.

Let's hope I am reading this wrong, but it looks to me like something big could possibly be about to, well, explode on the Korean peninsula.

  1. Perhaps these are moves simply to put pressure on Kim and his subordinates? Someone in the regime panics and assassinates Kim fearing a US nuclear strike. New, more reasonable leadership emerges. Problem solved. Seems to have panicked you.

  2. Nuclear war? This must be the first time a US President has ever send a B-52 over North Korea, right?
Except for all the other times, or course. Let me help.

  3. B-52s are perhaps one of the crappiest nuclear weapon delivery vehicles in the American military, and their presence is insignificant in terms of a measurement of new capability. A F-22 can deliver B61 gravity bombs in a more stealthy manner. Submarines can launch cruise missiles with W80 warheads. This is like freaking out because a crate of muskets were shipped to Korea.
