The move would break a key campaign promise when Trump repeatedly said he would force Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall along the border, says CNN.
The Trump team argues it will have the authority through a Bush-era 2006 law to build the wall, lawmakers say, but it lacks the money to do so. Transition officials have told House GOP leaders in private meetings they'd like to pay for the wall in the funding bill, a senior House GOP source said.
I suspect Trump will claim that he will shakedown Mexico to replenish the funds used (expect a Trump rweet any moment), but no one in Congress is addressing the point that has been made numerous times by Ron Paul, walls can be used to keep people in as well as out.
Remember the Berlin Wall!
Government created walls are dangerous and evil.

UPDATE
Right on schedule:
The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 6, 2017
There is already money allocated for a partial wall.
ReplyDeleteAlso, "Mexico paying for it" doesn't necessarily mean in direct dollars. Money is fungible, after all.
RW needs to drop the open border libertarian stupidity. Of course we desperately need more low IQ third worlders into the country.
ReplyDeleteI understand the point about a wall, but Mexico has no desire to stem the flow of humanity from their southern borders. When your southern neighbor has made it a point to subvert your country's laws and immigration process, how does that fit in with libertarian NAP?
Yea because those “low IQ third worlders” built the largest state/empire in the history of the world that can’t stop taxing, regulating, and spying on its citizens more and more; that is constantly at war with millions and millions of people in the world somewhere. Also no employers will hire those “low IQ third worlders” because they demand such a high wage.
DeleteFree the “high IQ 1st worlders”!
Non-traditional or traditional presidential candidates have at least one stupid thing they have to run and stick with. All, that I remember, were (or will be) things that they built up for their legacy only to have it destroyed and collapse on themselves.
ReplyDeleteW. Bush was "Compassionate Conservatism" - whatever this was, which seemed to be something to move conservatives toward socialism or more foreign intervention.
Obama - Obamacare
Trump - The "Great Wall of Trump"
I think it was the Good Doctor who said to be careful building walls because they can be used to keep people in.
ReplyDeleteYou have to admit that it'll be a hoot watching citizens jump the wall heading South.
