Reuters reports:
The new U.S. administration of President Donald Trump vowed on Monday that the United States would prevent China from taking over territory in international waters in the South China Sea, something Chinese state media has said would require Washington to "wage war."-RW
"I think the U.S. is going to make sure that we protect our interests there," White House spokesman Sean Spicer told a news briefing.
"It’s a question of if those islands are in fact in international waters and not part of China proper, then yeah, we’re going to make sure that we defend international territories from being taken over by one country."
A couple of doofuses I was debating in a comment thread on another site I read were pushing this notion REAL hard just yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess Triumph has decided a less nuanced attack with a Pole Axe to the face, is more effective than his old standard negotiating tools in "The The Art of The Deal." Negotiating is so yesterday.
ReplyDeleteChoose your poison. If you think it's OK for states to build artificial islands, then expect them to build them in international waters right next to your own country, causing no end of trouble. Or you can make it stop now. The choice has to be made. No choice is still a choice.
ReplyDeleteLibertarianism shouldn't be an excuse for stupidity.
