Donald Trump '100% Behind NATO'

During a joint press conference between President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May, May said  Trump assured her during their White House meeting that he is “100 percent behind NATO.”

“On defense and security cooperation, we’re united in our recognition of NATO as the bulwark of our collective defense, and today we've reaffirmed our unshakable commitment to this alliance,” May said in her introductory remarks at a joint news conference with the two leaders. “Mr. President, I think you said, you confirmed that you’re 100 percent behind NATO,” she added, turning to face Trump as she spoke.

So much for Trump dismantling NATO. Not going to happen.

  1. Robert I am a bit surprised that you have not quite figured out Trump-speak by now. In some ways, you fall into the same trap (in analysis) as the MSM concerning Trump. The fact remains that Trump has always taken both sides of (almost) every public policy issue he has ever spoken on. This goes back 30 years or more and is a consistent part of his business and personality profile. He has always been the Wizard behind the curtain, huffing and puffing and promoting himself. I suggest that we forget any analysis of Trump-speak (it's mostly bullshit, anyway) and focus our libertarian criticism ONLY on direct actions and outcomes. We surely will have enough work to do in that regard.

    1. Someone should criticize Donald Trump unless and until he actually does good deeds. He has done few so far. You have a good point that Trump often can be quoted on both sides of many issues.

For every criticism Wenzel makes of Trump you have my encouragement to post a countering comment pointing out a positive direct action he has taken. I wish you well in that endeavor.

  2. Trump always said that NATO members should meet their spending obligations, or potentially get thrown out of NATO. He also said that the current mission of NATO is obsolete. The problem is your comprehension of Trump, not Trump.

    1. To comprehend Donald Trump one would need to be able to have a basis by which to understand him. No such basis currently exists.
