Washington's Metropolitan Police Department clashed with anti-Donald Trump protestors Thursday night outside of the National Press Club building, reports The Hill.
According to the eye witnesses, the police deployed tear gas in an attempt to disperse the protestors. A reporter for NBC4 said protestors also set off smoke devices, contributing to the atmosphere of chaos.
The National Press Club is the scene of a pre-inauguration alt-right ball.
The protesters had previously been caught on tape plotting to disrupt the event.
