Trump Launches Tweetstorm Against Union Leader Who Said Trump "Lied His Ass Off"

Chuck Jones, president of the United Steelworkers 1999, which represents Carrier employees, felt optimistic when Trump announced last week that he’d reached a deal with the factory’s parent company, United Technologies, to preserve 1,100 of the Indianapolis jobs — until the union leader heard from Carrier that only 730 of the production jobs would stay and 550 of his members would lose their livelihoods, after all, reports The Washington Post.

At the Dec. 1 meeting, where Trump was supposed to lay out the details, Jones hoped he would explain himself.

“But he got up there,” Jones said Tuesday, “and, for whatever reason, lied his a-- off.”

In front of a crowd of about 150 supervisors, production workers and reporters, Trump praised Carrier. “Now they’re keeping — actually the number’s over 1,100 people,” he said, “which is so great.”

Last night Trump responded with a Tweetstorm attack against Jones:

Yes, this are tweets from the United States president-elect.

Robert Reich: "This is the start of tyranny."

  1. If Trump knew anything about economics he would realize that unions are one of the reasons why companies move overseas. IMO this is left-authoritarian (Union boss) vs right-authoritarian (Trump)

  2. This is the start of tyranny? Really? Not NSA, TSA, Income Tax, Federal Reserve Act, Patriot Act, Executive Imperialism, Holding Political Prisoners....but Trump insulting a union stooge on Twitter?

  3. Libertarians standing up for state enforced unions, I love it.

  4. Trump is an idiot, but when you start using Robert Reich to back your positions, you're venturing into a swamp of idiots that can't be drained. Your hatred for Trump is understandable, but it seems you're allowing it to affect your judgement. I saw most of the Reich rant. He's more of an idiot than Trump. People will lose their "democratic rights" if they suffer criticism from THE PRESIDENT (OH MY GOD!). Reich is an idiot.

That's actually the one awesome thing about this. If Trump can destroy the "reverence" that people hold for the top bureaucrat, he's accomplished a lot.

I consider it a good thing that Trump openly says anything on his mind. Hideous Hillary would have lied to us about her intentions, making it harder to resist her machinations. Would that have been better for the country? Trump is the quintessential New Yorker: if he's upset, you know it, and you know exactly why. I've always felt safe when I visit NY: you get the worst of people right up front, and after getting through that, you find they're not so bad underneath. Contrast this with the California style: everyone's oh-so-nice on the surface but underneath may be harboring mass-murder fantasies. I'll take New York any day.
