Peter Thiel to Donate $1.25 Million in Support of Donald Trump

Billionaire and self-proclaimed libertarian (I put him in the libertarian lite division at best) Peter Thiel will, at this late hour, give $1.25 million for the Donald Trump presidential effort through a combination of super PAC donations and funds given directly to the campaign, reports The New York Times.

It is a shrewd move by the cagey billionaire. Trump doesn't have a lot of friends right now and his odds of winning are shrinking fast but in the event Trump does win, he will remember that Thiel stepped up to the plate for him in his darkest hour.

Given the balance in Thiel's checking account, the $1.25 million is nothing relative to the payoff if Trump somehow does pulloff an upset win.

  1. Your words of commentary are very interesting. I too would score Their as at best libertarian lite.

  2. RW,

Do you mean Trumps odds of winning the popular vote are shrinking fast or that the Kingmakers will not let him win their approval and thus the Presidency?
