I agree a newbie will not get a grip on libertarianism from LFT. But, not everything we do has to be focused on recruitment.
How does discussing who is more insane when it comes to war, Hillary or Trump. do anything to advance the cause of liberty? If Hillary is way worse than Donald on war, and we support Donald, then we are less likely to get an unjustified war. That seems libertarian to me. Plus, Donald is WAY better than Hillary on political correctness, and, likely to be better on Supreme Court nominations.

"Rooting" for one politician or another guarantees only complicity in crime on the one hand, or unjustified counterfactual bragging rights on the other. Opportunity cost is real and time spent doing anything productive is infinitely preferable.
ReplyDeleteOppose war instead of supporting your neighbor who opposes war. Raise your children instead of criticizing your neighbors who won't raise their own. Perfect your body and your mind completely, and then you may find the moral leisure to "root" for one despot over the other, after your apotheosis.

So, according to Dr. Block, the purpose of electing Trump would be to beat Hillary? Seems rather circular. He simply refuses to address how we can calculate who is a sliver better when Trump radically changes his positions all the time, and we know both are lying about what they'll actually do in office. Sucker's game!
