Walter Block on the Threats Under Clinton vs. Trump

As a follow-up to Walter Block Considering Leaving the U.S. If Hillary Clinton Becomes President,
Dr. Block emails:

Dear Bob:

I see a much greater threat for martial law under Hillary than Donald. Based on how she deals with her bodyguards, she has interpersonal problems much worse than Donald's. Also, she'll make the entire US similar to what now goes on at most college campuses: trigger warnings, safe spaces, political correctness. Donald is MAGNIFICENT on PC. So much for the first amendment. Then, there's that "minor" issue of the supreme court. In the next four years, there might be as many as four replacements. Do you really want Hillary in charge of that? Then, there's the second amendment. A president Hillary would trash that, hypocritically, since all of her bodyguards are extremely well armed. Donald is MAGNIFICENT on the second amendment.

I don't like to put numbers on things like this, but it would not be fair to characterize my concern levels and likelihood of my leaving the U.S. as near as 100% under Hillary and 0% under Trump? If you compelled me to give you numbers, I would say, instead of your numbers the likelihood of my departing the U.S., either from fear of martial law, PC, or WWIII is 30% under a Hillary presidency and 10% under Trump." I fear Hillary way more than Donald, but at nothing like the 100% level. Hillary, thank goodness, has a child and a grandchild. Hopefully, all of her frothing at the mouth about Russia will be tempered by that consideration. But, her frothing will have what effect on Russia, I cannot say. In contrast, Donald has a bromance with Vladimir. I just can't understand why you fear and revile Donald more than Hillary.

What about Gary? My support for Donald was mainly vis a vis Hillary. Gary barely understands how to spell the name "libertarian"; his adherence to this philosophy is only skin deep. However, he is WAY more libertarian than is Donald. Hence, this article of mine:

Block, Walter E. 2016. “Hillary, Bernie, Donald, Gary: A Libertarian Perspective.” June 4; https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/06/walter-e-block/hillary-bernie-donald-gary/

Gary has an outside chance of becoming the next president. If he can get 15% or above on the polls (and the powers that be don't raise this to 20% or 25% as his poll numbers increase), and he gets into the debates, he might take New Mexico, Massachusetts and Utah. If so, and if there is a virtual tie between Hillary and Donald, the decision goes the House of Reps. If so, they might pick Gary, given their hatred for the other two. Wouldn't that be a blast!?!

Best regards,

Walter

  1. "Donald is MAGNIFICENT on the second amendment." - Block

I could say good or pretty good but to say magnificent is to ignore his weakness (no buy, no fly list). Block is too willing to overlook Trump's weaknesses.
