UPDATE 2
The Secret Service is aware of the comments made earlier this afternoon.— U.S. Secret Service (@SecretService) August 9, 2016
UPDATE 3
From The Hill:
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) says Donald Trump's controversial line about "Second Amendment people" qualifies as an assassination threat against Hillary Clinton.
Was @realDonaldTrump suggesting his supporters shoot Hillary? Shoot her nominee? Who knows. It's all so disgusting and embarrassing and sad.— Chris Murphy (@ChrisMurphyCT) August 9, 2016
Don't treat this as a political misstep. It's an assassination threat, seriously upping the possibility of a national tragedy & crisis.— Chris Murphy (@ChrisMurphyCT) August 9, 2016
I took his comments to mean that there would be armed resistance if Hillary tried to use the government to take away people's guns. I've been disappointed in Trump lately and won't be voting for him, but he should be applauded for making these comments.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Trump is an economically-illiterate ass, but his remarks are often audience-entertaining barbs. In this case, you're absolutely right. It's more a remark on armed resistance.
DeleteThe media bias was working for him. I'm not sure it is doing so now, but the election will probably still be closer than pundits are trying to infer.
I guess things have gotten to far out of hand for this to work for Trump: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp8Q7biFHoY
ReplyDeleteTrump sure knows how to grab media attention. A deliberately vague statement that can be interpreted in any number of ways. Not sure whether this helps or hurts him.
