I like my presidents under investigation and otherwise occupied.

Thanks to The Wry Guys for the T-shirt,

  1. Ending gold convertibilty? Instituting wage and price controls? Establishing the EPA? I don't miss him at all.

    1. Check your timeline that all occurred long before the Watergate investigation.

  2. The nostalgia escapes me. Created the war on (some) drugs, etc., etc. etc. I wouldn't walk around in that shirt. What were the consequences for his crimes? A pardon from Ford and a comfy retirement on Yorba Buena after being President for 6 of the allowed 8 years?

    1. You are acting like an SJW and not addressing my point, which is he didn't get anything done when the Watergate pressure was on him.

And I am not addressing his punishment at all. Why are you bringing that up. Really, it's SJW misdirection.

    2. He's bringing it up because the shirt you're holding up is bringing it up.

    3. WTF? He didn't get anything done during Watergate? Whatever! All the damage was done! All the things mentioned previously, escalating in Vietnam, Operation Linebacker, etc., etc., etc. The guy had been Veep for 8 years and Prez for 6.? It's a SJW misdirection to point out the real results of the bottom tagline of the shirt?

Hollow Daze a SJW? Really? You're tripping, broseph. I pray that you're just having a pleasant flashback from a Dead Show at the Fillmore West in 70-71 or sumpin'.

    4. I think the shirt is hilarious and I can imagine wearing it around my friends and family just to see their reaction. My interpretation was: as bad as Nixon was he wasn't as bad as these two bozos.

    5. The difference I found between Nixon and Clinton is he was a lousy liar, guilt was written all over his person, and she's good a good actor from what I've seen.

  3. >>> DesertBunny: "My interpretation was: as bad as Nixon was he wasn't as bad as these two bozos."

Correct, but to the larger point, it's a reference to our two-tiered legal system in which the Power Elite operate above the law with no accountability, while the rest of us are subject to a punitive, Byzantine legal code.

    >>> Hollow Daze: "What were the consequences for his crimes?"

While it's certainly true that Nixon didn't suffer legal consequences, he resigned in the face of severe public scorn and ridicule, he lived out his remaining days under a cloud of shame, and he took a financial hit, certainly in comparison with the post-presidential riches heaped upon his successors. Real consequences. Given the events of recent years, we wonder if we'll ever again see such consequences — insufficient as they may be — for crimes perpetrated by the politically connected.
