Koch’s top aides are set to meet with Trump’s team, reports Politico. The meeting comes at the request of the Trump team.
It is not clear whether the meeting will lead to the Koch multi-billionaires supporting the declared billionaire.
“We are happy to talk to anybody and hope they understand where we’re coming from, and they will have more constructive positions than they’ve had,” Charles Koch told USA Today.
Koch told USA Today that Donald Trump's recent statements about the Mexican-American judge presiding over a Trump University case , “It’s either racist or it’s stereotyping. It’s unacceptable, and it’s taking the country in the wrong direction.”
Koch said it would require a major shift in tone and policy for him to back Trump. Koch said he would need to be convinced that Trump supported his top causes “in a way ... wasn’t just hype,” ticking off as conditions: support for free trade, "free speech," eliminating “corporate welfare” and “trying to find common ground with people.”
Asked if that is that likely to happen? “No,” Koch said. “But we want to be open.”
