The protesters are angry after a former U.S. Marine employed as a civilian worker was arrested over the rape and murder of a local 20-year-old woman.
The demonstrators also called for the scrapping of plans by Washington and Tokyo to move a major U.S. Marine facility in the center of the island to a more remote area. The case has intensified longstanding opposition to the military bases, which house 26,000 U.S. troops on Okinawa and are a part of the U.S.-Japan security alliance.
US out of Okinawa -- stop the rape of Japan. https://t.co/mk2fDLnV1d— Justin Raimondo (@JustinRaimondo) June 19, 2016
NBC did run a story on it but only after a story on a rape by sports star at Vanderbilt and showed a not completely full smallish stadium and Japanese holding signs in japanese so not particulary important then, perhaps.
