Trump On What Bathroom He Would Expect Caitlyn Jenner to Use in the Trump Tower

Donald Trump told NBC that North Carolina is "paying a big price" for the controversial legislation, and said the state has created problems that did not previously exist.

"There have been very few problems; leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and the strife, you leave it the way it is," Trump said. "There has been so little trouble, and the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment that they're taking."

When Trump was asked if he had transgender individuals working for him, Trump responded that he probably did but did not know.

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" asked NBC's Matt Lauer.

"That is correct," Trump answered. "You know there's a big move to create new bathrooms. Problem with that is, for transgender, that would be a, first of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

  1. Hmm... asking Trump - or anyone - if he'd let Bruce Jenner dressed as a woman use the ladies room is a misdirection. Bruce (call me Caitlyn) is a known quantity. No one expects Bruce - dressed as a woman - to attack anyone. Also, Bruce would look like a woman to many who didn't recognize him.
The point is the more general: a man claiming to be a woman (for the moment, at least), and who doesn't necessarily have to be dressed as an expensive call girl (i.e. he could be in jeans and a t-shirt), whom you don't know wants to use the stall in the ladies room next to you/your wife/your daughter. Are you OK with that?
Anyone who wouldn't balk at that is being disingenuous.

  2. The fact that a presidential candidate of the US is being asked this question reveals how grossly intrusive politics has become. These areas of personal choice and preference when nature calls need no political solution. Let private entities decide whether to offer coed bathrooms or not and people will decide which is more convenient and "fair." Politics is useless. Don't vote.

    1. Exactly. The whole thing is the new Jim Crow. Why are governments trying to impose bathroom laws on people.

    2. "Let private entities decide whether to offer coed bathrooms or not and people will decide which is more convenient and "fair.""

      Exactly.

The correct libertarian response should be to allow those owning bathrooms, even if deemed "public", to determine the policy of allowing transgender's in what bathroom or not...

I've been a bit surprised on this topic to see prominent libertarian websites seemingly hold up this notion of government enforced bathroom assignment instead of defaulting to what is IMO the proper libertarian viewpoint:

Let the owners of said bathrooms decide their own "public" bathroom policies. (Restaurants, Walmart's, Target's, etc.)

Government shouldn't have a say either way. (unless it's a bathroom they "own"...and that statement opens a whole nother' can of worms I don't care to discuss at this moment)

  3. As usual Trump's comments are contradictory and incoherent. On the one hand he says "Leave it the way it is" and complains that transgender bathrooms are discriminatory and a big expense to businesses. Then he says North Carolina is causing all kinds of problems by legislatively protecting traditional same sex bathrooms(i.e. "Leave it the way it is"). Then, contradicting himself he says that he has no problem with biologically male individuals using female restrooms in his properties. WTF?

The more he opens his mouth the less sense he makes, just like his legion of ignorant, gullible cult followers. Trump is absolutely full of bovine excrement and yet he is still better than the DemocRat alternative. Having to choose between this clown and the Clinton Crime Syndicate is like having a choice between a firing squad or the electric chair. What's the point?

  4. this isn't the point of the act (to protect women and girls from men intent on sexual assault sneaking in to toilets dressed as women) but to 'nudge' if you like, transexuals back to dressing 'normally' by at best having straight males looking with disgust at best down to get the crap beaten out of them.
this is exactly why you don't want a government cos whether its a left wing statist or a right wing statist you still get a statist deciding for you.

  5. How is this even an issue? To me that sounds like Trump's comment, just leave it alone; don't turn this into a big deal and it will go away. I've seen many women use men's restrooms because there was typically a shorter line. Also, as a guy I've used unoccupied women's bathrooms, when the men's was occupied and no women were waiting (just locked the door behind me). I've never seen anything more than a laugh or slightly annoyed look in both of these cases. Why is this an issue again?

  6. Big strategic mistake from Trump. He is popular because he doesn't take PC crap. So what is he doing now? Giving in to PC crap.
The proper question is: what is the next step? As libertarians our solution is simple: private property owners should get to decide.

But we are not living in a private property society, we are living in a society where tremendous amounts of pressure is exerted by cultural marxist lunatics on private property owners to conform to their Utopia. Remember the fracas about religious people being forced to bake cakes for gay people. This is just the latest hysteria from the reality-deniers.

Personally, i would enter a ladies room and - literally and figuratively - make a big stink. And be loud. Let's see the delicate flowers of PC whine about disgusting male behavior in their previously wonderful sanctuary. Yes i'm male, but i feel like such a woman, and who are you to deny that? Gender is in the mind, not the pants.
