Kissinger-Connected Theranos is Under Investigation by the SEC and US Attorney's Office

Theranos, where neocon darling for president Jim Mattis sits and where Henry Kissinger is an adviser, has reported to its partnets in a private memog that it is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Justice Department.

I have been on the tail of Theranos for some time. Even before the July 2014 story in The San Jose Mercury News that absurdly suggested that Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes might be the next Mark Zuckerberg. See:

On Monday morning,  Holmes told NBC’s TODAY show, she was “devastated” by failures at the company’s California laboratory, which have left federal regulators threatening to shut down the lab and ban Holmes from the business of blood testing for at least two years.

Holmes took full responsibility for the problems, which largely involve inaccurate test results and the hiring of unqualified workers. However, she explained the failures by noting that she was unaware of them.

“I’m the founder and CEO of this company,” she said. “Anything that happens in this company is my responsibility at the end of the day.” But when asked why the laboratory didn’t seem to have protocols to ensure that they were following internal and external quality checks for the medical test results or hiring only employees with the necessary licenses and qualifications to handle those medical tests, Holmes responded, “Probably the most devastating part of this is that I thought we did.”

According to top research scientists in the field that I have talked to, the problem likely goes far beyond poor lab practices, The diagnostic claims made by Theranos as to the capabilities of the company's tests are likely untrue the research scientists believe.

Later in the day, following her apparance on TODAY,  Bloomberg reported that the company is under investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California,
