A Clarification From Walter Block on the Millennial Cycle Fourth Turning

During his update on "Libertarians for Trump," Dr. Walter Block  wrote:

I had this idea that we libertarians should support Donald Trump for the nomination of the Republican Party for president, not because he was a libertarian, nor, even, because his views were very congruent with our philosophy. My thought, though, was that out of all the Republican candidates, he was the most libertarian on foreign policy..
I was brought to these thoughts by this excellent article: Miller, Donald W, Jr. 2016. “Trump: Our Only Hope for Escaping World War III.” March 9
This prompted the following exchange between Dr. Block and me.

Subject: Millennial Cycle Fourth Turning?

Dear Walter,

In your article today at LewRockwell.com, you state that you were brought to your position on Donald Trump based on Miller, Donald W, Jr. 2016. “Trump: Our Only Hope for Escaping World War III.” March 9.

Miller's article seems to be based on the idea that there is an 80-year cycle to history, with 3 phases, an awakening, an unraveling and a crisis and that we are in the Millennial Cycle Fourth Turning of the American cycle.

Do you hold this view?

Best,

Bob

Dear Bob:

No, I don’t hold that view. What inspired me about Don Miller’s article was how eloquently he put forward the thesis that Trump is our best shot at avoiding WWIII.

Best regards,

Walter
