Michael Bloomberg Has Formed a Presidential Exploratory Committee

Former New York Mayor Michael. Bloomberg has instructed advisers to draw up plans for a potential independent campaign in this year’s presidential race, reports The New York Times.

More from NYT:
Mr. Bloomberg, 73, has already taken concrete steps toward a possible campaign, and has indicated to friends and allies that he would be willing to spend at least $1 billion of his fortune on it, according to people briefed on his deliberations who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss his plans. He has set a deadline for making a final decision in early March, the latest point at which advisers believe Mr. Bloomberg could enter the race and still qualify to appear as an independent candidate on the ballot in all 50 states.
He has retained a consultant to help him explore getting his name on those ballots, and his aides have done a detailed study of past third-party bids. Mr. Bloomberg commissioned a poll in December to see how he might fare against Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton, and he intends to conduct another round of polling after the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 9 to gauge whether there is indeed an opening for him, according to two people familiar with his intentions.
Bloomberg just reeks of totalitarian instincts. Remember, as mayor of NYC, he tried to ban large size sugary drinks and added more totalitarian rules to the taxi sector rather than just abolishing the city controlled cab oligopoly (Thank the heavens for Uber). I hate to think of what grand schemes he would come up with as president of the United States.

And keep in mind what he said during a speech at MIT in 2011:
I have my own army in the NYPD, which is the seventh biggest army in the world. I have my own State Department, much to Foggy Bottom’s annoyance. We have the United Nations in New York, and so we have an entree into the diplomatic world that Washington does not have,
As Trump might say, This is a very dangerous guy.

I think I would support anyone, including Bernie Sanders, over Bloomberg.

Let's hope the opposition research people can dig the dirt up on him, including why he was granted the right to provide the bankster inside quote on his Bloomberg terminals, when no one else was. Without access to that quote, his terminals would have been lost in a sea of then terminal providers. The secretive  right he gained to provide  that inside quite is the cornerstone of his wealth.

  1. If it's a three way race between Bloomberg, Trump, and Clinton, Bloomberg's entry would probably be most beneficial to Trump. Clinton and Bloomberg hold very similar viewpoints; she's big sister, he's big brother. However, if it's Sanders instead of Clinton, then Bloomberg's entry probably would help Sanders because his views on civil liberties and war would set him apart from the other two candidates. Plus, he would be the one non-New York billionaire running.

  3. If Sanders vs Trump is the general election choice then I will abstain. Either one would be awful. If Bloomberg enters, I would be tempted to vote for The Donald, just to make sure all 3 candidates lack a majority. Damn Rand Paul.

  4. Thanks for the 411 on the inside quote as to why Bloomberg was able to rack up so much money providing a commodity service. All makes sense now. Sterling example of cronyists obtain so much wealth so easily and laugh while so many others scramble and work so hard in competitive spaces trying to make a fraction as much.
