Erick Erickson, editor of Red State, writes that it's time for Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul to take his campaign “out back and shoot it.”

• “He has marched to the beat of not just his own drummer, but a drummer no one else can hear,” Erickson writes
• “At this point, if Paul stays in, he is staying in as a candidate to subsidize political consultants, which is something Paul ran against in 2010”
• Says Paul “should be setting the agenda of a new GOP reform path,” urges him to focus on winning re-election to U.S. Senate in Kentucky, where Erickson endorsed Paul in 2010
