Rand Makes CNBC Debate

CNBC, the network hosting the next Republican presidential primary debate, just released the list of candidates who made the cut for the first and second tier debates

The debate, which will be at the Coors Events Center at the University of Boulder in Boulder, Colorado, will have the following candidates on the main stage: Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

 The main stage debate will begin at 8 p.m. ET.

Four other candidates—former New York Gov. George Pataki, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)46%—qualify for the undercard debate. The undercard debate will begin at 6 p.m. ET.

The moderators for this debate include CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla, Becky Quick, and John Harwood.

  1. This just in from CNBC: "They decision to include Mr Rand Paul on the 'main stage' in the next debate came at the request of Mr Trump. Mr Trump slyly pointed out that including Mr Rand Paul would circumvent any whining from Mr Paul's camp - at least for a few more days."

  2. The video on CNBC introducing this event is... interesting. John Harwood is introducing the ten, with a photo of each placed on the screen in their positions as they will stand in the debate. He starts with Trump and Carson in the center, then works his way out from there.

    The last candidate introduced is Rand Paul, on the far right of the screen. The problem is, you can't see his photo - Harwood stands in front of it the entire time!
