John McAfee (Wanted in Belize) Plans to Run for President of the US

Tech millionaire John McAfee has joined the race for the U.S. presidency, claiming he will base his election campaign on privacy rights, reports The Daily Mail.

McAfee made his reputation and fortune by developing early anti-virus computer software of the same name,

Although he is famed as developer of the McAfee software, he is equally well known for his run-in with Belize police and the subsequent months he spent as a fugitive through Central America notes the Mail.

According to CNN Money, McAfee confirmed he plans to run for President in 2016 after being urged to run by 'amost everyone'.

'I have a huge underground following on the web,' he said. 'I promise you I will win because I have the votes.'

He has apparently formed his own party, The Cyber Party.'  He said he had submitted the necessary forms to the Federal Elections Commission.

His announcement comes just a month after he was arrested in Tennessee after being caught driving under the influence and for illegal gun possession, according to police.

McAfee later admitted to being under the influence of Xanax, but said it was a new prescription and he was not aware it would impair his driving.

He added that he is the legal owner of the gun found in his car, and that his only crime was possessing it while intoxicated, which he maintained was an accident.

McAfee is still wanted in Belize for questioning following the death of his neighbour Gregory Faull, 52, in November 2012.

    2. Nope. He says he's for internet privacy. Doesn't he know how "irresponsible" it would be to scrap the Panopticon surveillance state? Not qualified.

  3. These psychos must all long for the day when they attain the rarefied office and can then drop the innocence act. "If the president does it, it's not illegal," R. Milhous Nixon.

  4. I think he will run circles around Trump in a 1 on 1 debate. I don't know that he has the temperament for sustained campaigning though. I would definitely prefer him to anyone currently running.
