I Don't Think Hayek Even Thought About This Possibility

Yes, it is true, Friedrich Hayek warned in Chapter 10: of The Road to Serfdom that the worst get on top:
It is then the man of the party who seems strong and resolute enough "to get things done" who exercises the greatest appeal...such solid support as to inspire confidence that he can carry out whatever he wants.

But Hayek never, ever wrote that such a person's ex-wife would endorse such a man along these very lines.

Trump's ex-wife, Ivana, did just that during an interview on Access Hollywood:.

The Hill reports:
"Donald is Donald,” Ivana Trump — who was married to the candidate from 1977 to 1992 and then went through a very public divorce  — tells “Access Hollywood” in a Tuesday interview. “He's going to do exactly what he wants to do, say exactly what he wants to say. He's not going to mince words, quite frankly. Donald is doing his thing, and he has his charm and if he wins — and I think he will — he's going to run the country as a business, and this is what the country needs.”
Calling him a “great negotiator,” the 66-year-old former model and mother to three of Trump’s grown children said, “The country needs somebody with courage and [somebody who] can achieve certain goals and America has to become better, because we are really in a deep hole.”

“Other countries, they don't respect America, don't respect our president,” Ivana Trump said.

“Anything that Donald touches turns to gold,” she continued, “I think there is a big, big chance [for him] to win.”

  1. It's a big mistake to run a government like a business. It's best to shrink it.
