A Fan Letter From Walter Block

Dear Bob:

If I wrote you a fan letter for every brilliant libertarian analysis you write on Target Liberty, I’d clutter up your in-box, and take too much time away from my own writing. But, I’m not going to let you “get away” with your magnificent essay on gentrification and immigration. I’ve written on both. Often. But, I never before saw the connection between the two that you point out so incisively. In many ways, I am your student in libertarian theory. Yes, yes, we disagree on a few things, Rand, IP, but so what. I regard you as one of the keenest of libertarian theoreticians now actively writing, and I am honored that you choose to include so much of my own writings, interviews, etc., on your great blog. I’m also happy to say that we are good friends.

Best regards,

Walter

My response:

Hi Walter, Thank you for the very kind words. Any success I have in soundly presenting libertarian and Austrian ideas is becasue at a very early age, I came across the writings of Ludwig von Mises, Murray Rothbard and your Defending the Undefendable.  I just use the Defending template and apply it. I am being held up by giants.

  1. The only thing that I am 100% convinced of is my own ignorance. You and Dr. Block both illustrate that idea. We are all students, for the rest of our lives, if we value the truth.
