Trump Threatens Republicans that He MIght Run as an Independent

Donald Trump said he might consider a third-party presidential campaign if the Republican establishment treats him unfairly, he told The Hill in a Wednesday interview.

"I'll have to see how I'm being treated by the Republicans," Trump said. "Absolutely, if they're not fair, that would be a factor."

  1. What's going on here? The Donald talks about being such a great negotiator, but he's showing his cards way too early. That has to be the unspoken threat until using it is imminent. Saying at this early stage that he might run independent is only going to discredit him amongst the regular Repy folks who will start to believe the media talk that he is an opportunist. He's giving the establishment a wonderful tool to use against him. Watch as interviews start to begin with: 'But, Mr Trump, will you really run as an indie?'

    1. I slightly disagree and think Rand could have the upper hand if he wasn't too chicken to play this card. The Republican controlled press has helped further destroy Rand's candidacy despite his endless efforts to appease them. Why not just say, "Screw it, if you're going to treat me unfairly then I will run third party"? I would have put that threat out the moment Fox News started "mistakenly" leaving his name off viewer polls and slamming him for his anti-Patriot Act speech.
