Silk Road Heroin Dealer Who Helped Convict Ulbricht Will Serve 2.5 Years

Michael Duch, who sold heroin on Silk Road and later testified at the trial of the site's founder Ross Ulbricht, was sentenced today to two-and-a-half years in prison, according to Reuters.

And, he will receive credit for the 21 months he has already spent in prison, meaning that he could be released within months.

Ulbricht has been sentenced to life, without the possibility of parole.

The government loves those who cooperate with it and will attempt to crush those who challenge it directly.

  1. Alexander Solzhenitsyn said the regular criminals were treated pretty well over in the old USSR. The thieves and the like. Although competitors with the state, they were seen as kindred spirits. It was the political prisoners, those who were seen as a threat to the state, who were treated very poorly.

  2. Marc, well said.

Exactly why the state is lashing out against dark markets and bitcoin so vituperously. Because they are effective, and thus are seen as a threat. Ross is treated in the harsher category of political prisoner.
