LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in San Francisco for the NBA Finals. On their way to the arena this afternoon for game 2 of the Finals, they were given a massive police motorcycle escort from the Four Seasons Hotel, where they are staying, to Oracle Arena.
What is interesting about this escort service is that without the motorcycled police no one would have noticed the bus. It is a pretty bland bus, similar to many others operating on a daily basis in the city.
As for security for the players, the private sector is doing a pretty good job of that. I happened to have a meeting at the Four Seasons on Friday and there was much more hotel security on hand than normal, but everything was under control, without a copper in sight.
But today, first the traffic was stopped through out downtown, jamming up the city:
