Rand Paul: There Has to Be Laws Against What Edward Snowden Did; There Has to Be Some Punishment

During a recent interview with Reason magazine Editor in Chief Matt Welch, Rand Paul discussed his thoughts on Edward Snowden and how a Rand presidency would handle the NSA whistleblower's return.

Bottom line: Rand is a man of the state. He does not meet Murray Rothbard's measure of solid libertarian as "someone who hates the state." Indeed, it is clear that Rand wants to see Snowden punished for defying the state.

Explain this one Rand Paul fanboys.

  1. I wonder what Rand thinks of Daniel Ellsberg.

  4. The Druidic philosophers of Ynys Môn believed truth was the most powerful force, and would have supported Daniel Ellsberg, and Edward Snowden; Rand Paul would have joined the Roman Army of Gaius Suetonius Paulinus in burning the Druidic version of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to ash.

  5. Reason's YT channel just posted the full interview ( https://youtu.be/kEZroWTlK5I ) 14 mins, in it Rand comes off quite well overall. Forgiving him the areas where you may disagree, Rand Paul is far and away the best option.

    1. There are no good options. Just a bunch of also-rans. Rand being one of the more offensive of them.

  6. Since I don't vote and see politics as a theatrical spectacle (been loving Lew Rockwell's new blog lately), I'm rooting for Trump. While I don't want to see him win, I can appreciate the fact he's actually got some balls as you saw in 2012 when he wouldn't back off of his truthful claims on Obama's birth certificate. His tweets yesterday calling Charles Krauthammer a dummy and "overrated clown" who pretends to be smart while adding that both Krauthhammer and Stephen Hayes are stupid for supporting the Iraq war reminded me of the Pat Buchanan run in 1992. So for entertainment purposes, it's Trump 2016! for me.

  7. In other words, Rand is in favor of the crimes that Snowden revealed. The real crimes are starting wars for personal profit and TORTURE. All responsible for torture in any way should face prison terms for their crimes against humanity! The entire Bush administration are war criminals, and Obama's too, to the extent he's continued these failed Bush policies.
