Rand Paul Appears to Want the GOP to Play Down the Second Amendment

"Everybody is for the Second Amendment. All 55 candidates running for president are for the Second Amendment—on our side. But the thing is that a lot of young people, that might not be their primary issue," speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition summit in Washington D.C.

He then went on to take a wacky left wing position, and then a religious perspective, on the gun issue:
We had the shooting this morning in South Carolina. What kind of person goes in a church and shoots nine people? There's a sickness in our country. There's something terribly wrong, but it isn't going to be fixed by your government. It's people straying away, it's people not understanding where salvation comes from.
How the hell can he say there is a sickness in America based on the fact that one whack job (out of 320 million Americans) goes on a crazed shooting spree?

Further, although I have no problem with any person practicing any form of religion he desires, it is very dangerous to see a politician talking about "salvation" and "straying," when he is in political mode.

I continue to fail to see Rand as any kind political answer for libertarians. The guy muddies and downgrade every libertarian issue.

He manages to vote against the shrinkage of combat brigades, but calls for less emphasis on the Second Amendment. WTF?

Does Rand have any idea how governments move further along the tyranny spectrum?  It, for sure. occurs faster when there are more combat brigades in a country and, at the same time. greater restrictions on private gun ownership.

    Nearly every mass shooting incident in the last twenty years, and multiple other instances of suicide and isolated shootings all share one thing in common, and its not the weapons used. -- The overwhelming evidence points to the signal largest common factor in all of these incidents is the fact that all of the perpetrators were either actively taking powerful psychotropic drugs or had been at some point in the immediate past before they committed their crimes.

    It is beyond revolting to hear a politician in Washington D.C. talk of straying from salvation's path when he fully supports our arming of ISIS, Daesh, or whatever he chooses to call it by consistently dropping weapons on them that are then used to kill Christians, and Muslims in a dance macabre shooting gallery.
