More Trouble for Rand: An Inside the Beltway Open Letter

How bad are things getting for Rand Paul? Not only has he lost an important Jewish sponsor, but there is new evidence that even inside Beltarians are getting fed up with Rand.

Julie Borowski, a policy analyst at the inside the Beltway organization FreedomWorks, has penned an open letter to Rand, where she has wrote:
I’ll be honest, though. Some of the things you’ve done recently have given me pause.
You voted for sanctions against Russia. You signed onto Tom Cotton’s Iran letter–the problem is the intent of the undiplomatic letter more so than the language. Your stance on foreign aid to Israel has been confusing. You’ve seemed to water down your position on Pentagon spending. Your statementon the drone strikes killing two Americans overseas was disappointing. I’m getting mixed messageson where exactly you stand on the War on Drugs....
Look, I get it.
It’s necessary to broaden your appeal to secure the GOP nomination. You can’t just rely on the libertarian voting block to win.
I’d urge caution, though.
At times, it seems like you’re trying to please two diametrically opposed groups at the same time. Not only will it prove impossible to win the support of both non-interventionists and defense hawks, but you could end up alienating your passionate early supporters.
As the quote goes, “if you try to be everything to everyone, you’ll be nothing to no one.
It’s a waste of time trying to gain approval for people who will probably never like you, especially if that comes at the expense of losing some in your base.
I’m afraid that it’s already happening.

  1. Rand was born on third base and he assumed serendipity would drive him home to ultimate victory.
