Hillary Clinton Proxy Group Files Campaign Finance Violation Complaint Against Rand Paul

The American Democracy Legal Fund has filed an FEC complain alleging that author Peter Schweizer, of  the attack book Clinton Cash, and Rand Paul broke campaign finance law when the two met for a private briefing about the book's content, reports The Guardian..

The group said in its filing that Rand has used that information on the presidential trail, making it an 'in-kind' contribution worth more than the $2,700 Schweizer would be permitted to donate to Rand's campaign under current law.

Schweizer, however, says that the briefing happened before Rand announced his White House bid, and was conducted in his capacity as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee – meaning that he wasn't a presidential candidate at the time.
