At CPAC Rand Will Call for a "Fair Tax System" and a Stronger Military

What the hell is this?

Rand Paul will speak at Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday that is currently ongoing in National Harbor, Md, just outside Washington D.C.

Politico has an advanced copy of some of the remarks he will make:
Our future can include a road back to prosperity — back to respect at home and abroad. It should include a balanced budget and a simple, fair tax system.
“It should include a government that protects your rights and your security. It should include a stronger, better and more agile military.
As I have pointed out many times, a call for a "fair tax," is simply a scam to raise taxes. The country doesn't need a different tax system, it needs lower taxes. Just cut, cut and cut tax rates right from here, right from the current system.

And what is this about the demand for "a stronger, better and more agile military"?

Shouldn't the focus be on pulling back the Empire by calling back troops from around the world, not on a stronger military? And, shouldn't we want a less agile military, so that it is less tempting to get involved in foreign entanglements. I am going to be anxious to see how antiwar libertarians, who have been supporting Rand, deal with these comments.

Rand continues to muddy the libertarian message. This time, on two of the most important topics taxes and the military. The only libertarian position on both these topics is cut, cut, cut. Not murky plans for shifts in the system. The power elite love such calls for murky shifts.

  1. Wenzel you do not understand Rand. Pulling back the empire and shrinking the military can lead to a "stronger, better and more agile military." Ron and Rand are 99% the same - just a different approach.

    1. Hey buddy, Calling for a stronger military is not about shrinking the military. And why do we want a stronger military in the first place? Who are you John McCain?

    2. No, this is more of Rand playing into the false media narrative that he has to separative himself from his "crazy" father. Unlike Bill Kristol, who has devoted his life to effectively ensure his father's disastrous neocon agenda gets implemented as policy, Rand has thrown his father under the bus as much as possible for the hopeless dream of becoming king. The war establishment is using Rand to paint his father as an extremist and muddle the libertarian message.

    3. Anonymous: Agreed. you'd think someone as 'smart' as Robert Wenzel would realize this. HEY ROBERT, have you ever thought to ask your hero Walter Block who he would pick to be president from the potential GOP field??? I'm guessing he wouldn't pick Bush now would he? If you're going to lap dog for Walter Block at least be truthful and listen to what he has to say about it.

  3. Robert Wenzel has has nailed Rand Paul for several years, and has a depth of knowledge that Rand's little sycophantic followers can not successfully challenge, because they lack the ability to hold a logical train of thought. And no, I do not always agree with Robert Wenzel, but he is fearless in his advocacy of libertarian ideas which is an admirable trait that Paul the younger will never possess.

I will now be blunt, Rand Paul has the aura of a quisling.

  4. I'm just glad we all agree (Robert Wenzel included) that we want any of the other GOP candidates to become president (Bush, Christie, Walker) to be president JUST NOT RAND PAUL! HES HATES LIBERTY! The other candidates are WAY CLOSER to liberty than Rand! Boo Rand Paul!

    1. Why would anyone in their right mind vote for a Republican, they force feed us propaganda that we should all bow down and worship the military. I am sorry but I gave up recognizing the US military as being worthy of my trust or high regard over 47 years ago, and I will never bow down to a psychotic collection of Lemmings. Nothing over the past 47 years has proven to me that anyone should ever "believe" in the US military, on the contrary they have devolved into force that destroys the souls of nearly everyone who enters their fraternity of death.
There is no contender in either party that will further the cause of liberty, worshiping the military, DHS, FBI, CIA, and the NSA are prerequisites to entering the fetid presidential arena in the last days of this new Roman empire. I am sure the winner of the contest will provide you with 100 days gladiatorial games to sate your lust for following the crowd.
