The alcohol thing is pretty funny, considering the guy is a Mormon. Although, it wouldn't be the first time a "Mormon" (perhaps in name only) has been involved with alcohol.
Idaho Senator Mike Crapo was picked up a few years ago for drunk driving and he's also a Mormon.
His right eye is destroyed. The right side of his jaw is badly bruised, so is the backside of his right hand. Either somebody has a mean right-handed backhand or a southpaw really let him have it. And then to use this clip to announce his resolve to fight politically is probably the best way to make light of it if only to raise more suspicions. None of the stories answer so far. I wonder what his neck looks like or his right shoulder or right side. Falling onto gym equipment does not produce bruises like that. Scratches, maybe, but not bruises of that size. Plus, if one does fall it is broken somehow with a hand or an arm, elbow, shoulder, something. No one knowingly goes face first onto anything. He's covering for someone in his family.
I agree with this assessment most. The severity of the bruising, the real lack of abrasion (which is what I would normally see from a fall), and the bruising on the back of his hand is most telling.
His hand was attempting to guard his face from a furious assault by a southpaw and you can only hold up for so long. His body probably has some bruising that forced him to expose his face.
As the anonymous above states, he would have called the cops on someone and revealed he was assaulted if the person wasn't important to him.
Unless he has a female in the family who does MMA, I would guess it's a male family member with some staying power.

I think there is a big battle underway between good elements trying to unthrone bad elements in banking, military, politics, etc. We get peeks here and there: numerous banker 'suicides', Merkel's broken bones from 'skiing', Kerry's broken nose from 'skiing,' step down of the Pope nearly two years ago, dismissal of a three-star Admiral for counterfeiting and using gambling chips, 'accidents' and 'heart attacks' involving authors and reporters, etc.
My guess is that Reed was wavering and considering going over to the side of 'light' and was beaten to convince him otherwise. I presume that the 'dark' guys have photos of Reed with drugs, children, or something else that normally keep him in line, and that those were no longer working.

If he was using resistance bands then, yes, you can get hurt pretty badly if it's not secured down or if the anchor you secured it to comes loose.
I met a fellow a few years ago that was using one of those bands, which are great by the way, and he was telling me that he stupidly attached it to a door hook, which came loose, striking him in the face. Apparently he lost teeth and fractured his jaw. They can be seriously dangerous.
I'm not defending Harry Reid, but the money people know better than to rough up the faces or their face guys. Occam's Razor and all that.
