INSANE: USDA May Release Crazed Politically Correct, Economically Idiotic, Diet Guidelines

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is preparing to release the latest version of the government's dietary guidelines this year, and there's a chance it could reflect what is healthy for the environment, too, reports WaPo.

A new focus on the environment would mean asking people to choose more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and other plant-based foods — possibly at the expense of meat, writes Manufacturing.net.

The USDA's Dietary Guidelines advisory committee  is behind the idea. Doctors and academics on the panel have framed sustainability in terms of conserving food resources and also what are the healthiest foods. There is "compatibility and overlap" between what's good for health and good for the environment, the panel has said.”

The panel argues that a diet focused on "sustainability" will ensure better access to healthy food for future generations.

This is positively nuts and smacks off some type og goofy "peak meat" theory that defies basic economics and was once promoted in the energy sector with the idea of "peak oil." A "fear" now disappearing because of huge new oil supplies and crashing prices.

Fight the state eat meat!

  1. Yet they will subsidize wheat, corn, and soy out the wazoo...to make it cost effective for hyper-fattening cows.

Here is the USDA's idea of sustainability:

That looks about as sustainable as the Soviet Union.

    1. Yes, it's amazing that they subsidize all those crops, yet then there is talk (and implementation) of soda and junk food taxes, made from the very crops that are subsidized! It's insane!

The govt should get out of the crop subsidy business and nutritional recommendation business. I don't care for Sarah Palin much, but she was right when she asked the question of why Michelle Obama was telling Americans how to eat.
