WOW Double Attack on Rand Paul and Judge Napolitano from George Soros Funded Outfit

A major league lefty attack against Rand Paul has occurred because of his association with Judge Andrew Napolitano.

Media Matters, partly funded by George Soros, is out with an article with this headline: Rand Paul Writes Foreword For Confederate Apologist And 9-11 Truther's New Book.

The new book referenced is Napolitano's Suicide Pact: The Radical Expansion of Presidential Powers and the Assault on Civil Liberties.

Here's part of what M&M had to say:
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) wrote the foreword for a new book from Fox News senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano. Napolitano has promoted 9-11 conspiracy theories, attacked President Abraham Lincoln, and defended a former Paul aide with "neo-Confederate" and "pro-secessionist" views...

In the foreword [to the new book], Paul writes, "Now President Obama says he just wants to 'balance' liberty and national security. Judge Napolitano succinctly answers President Obama. To Napolitano, it isn't possible to balance rights and security because 'rights and [national security] are essentially and metaphysically so different that they cannot be balanced against each other."

Paul praises Napolitano for "unravel[ing] the labyrinthine assault on civil liberties that has taken place as a side effect of the War on Terror."

He concludes, "Judge Napolitano gets it, and I hope his new book will help the American public to get it; to wake up and mount a defense of our most precious liberties before it's too late."

While Paul thinks Napolitano "gets it," the Fox News contributor has a long history of promoting outlandish conspiracy theories and making controversial statements...
Napolitano and Paul are both closely associated with conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones...Prior to Napolitano pushing 9-11 truther nonsense with Jones, the Fox News contributor had previously appeared on his show to promote conspiracies about "one world government" and the Federal Reserve, among other things.
How is Rand going to handle this? Will he throw the Judge under the bus or will he back-up the Judge's politically incorrect but sound views?

  1. If he's got any freaking sense at all, he'll stand by the judge. Even a craven politician running for the Repub Nomination knows running to the Right is good.
Any flack from the left is all good for his purposes.
I contend that the smear job by Rachel "Madcow" during his Senate run was good for 20 - 30 % points in the race. After all, he was running for the Senate in KENTUCKY, not Massachusetts.

It depends on how hard he's pressed on the matter. If he can't ignore it, he'll most definitely throw the Judge under the bus.

  3. ---"Napolitano has promoted 9-11 conspiracy theories, attacked President Abraham Lincoln, and defended a former Paul aide with "neo-Confederate" and "pro-secessionist" views..."---

Most of these accusations are the usual Proggie bromides against people who provide a different perspective on history than what they learned at Proggie school. If you question Lincoln's motives to go to war, then you're a "neo-Confederate" and a "pro-secessionist" (I can only guess what would our Proggie friends at Media Matters would call those that talked about Scottish secession in a possitive light)

Besides this, I don't know of what 9-11 conspiracy theories they talk about. I've read many of the judge's books on civil liberties and the State and I haven't read anything. Now, I don't listed to Alex Jones but I believe the Proggies at Media Matters are simply engaging in guilt by association when throwing that accusation, which reeks of calumny.

  4. A little OT but speaking of attacks it looks like the Feds are prepping for a second attack on Bundy. Correct me if Im wrong but I think you said that the Feds will be back after the armed response to them

  8. I don't have anything to add about Media Matters' smearing; it's exactly what one would expect from such an outfit. But the subject dealt with by Senator Paul's foreword, the notion that individual rights are incompatible with “security” and must be “balanced” against it, is an important one. Extract from the MM article:

“In the foreword [to the new book], Paul writes, "Now President Obama says he just wants to 'balance' liberty and national security. Judge Napolitano succinctly answers President Obama. To Napolitano, it isn't possible to balance rights and security because 'rights and [national security] are essentially and metaphysically so different that they cannot be balanced against each other."”

In the foreword to Suicide Pact, Paul proceeded to explain that, “Rights are inherent and a natural extension of self; national security is a commodity”. This is true. But there is more to be said, implicit in that phrase, “national security”. National security is a commodity purchased (and defined) by the ruling class, at the expense of the public. This leads to a real conflict between “national security” and individual rights.

Your rights – the legal guarantees for the sanctity of your life, liberty and property – are not at all in conflict with YOUR security; in fact, YOUR rights are essential conditions for YOUR security. It is the ruling class which experiences YOUR rights as limitations on ITS security – for the security of the ruling class means: immunity from the legal and moral norms of respect for the rights of others, power without responsibility.

Whenever politicians talk about the need to “balance” rights against security, they mean YOUR rights versus THEIR security. And their idea of the appropriate “balance” is: absolute security for the ruling elite, absolute slavery for the people.
