Gary Johnson Promises to be a Bigger Libwap than Rand

Jay Stephenson emails:
Here's another reason not to vote.  Gary Johnson says he will once
again run for the Libertarian Party nomination in 2016.  He promises
to be a bigger libwap than Rand.
Gary Johnson: "I'll Run in 2016 to Provide Libertarian Option" That
Rand Paul Doesn't Offer

Reason reports:
The 2012 Libertarian Party candidate for president, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, has announced that he's running for the 2016 LP nomination.
He directly addressed how his views differ from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the most libertarian likely candidate from a major party:
"On half the issues he's right, but on the whole social issue thing.... Look, libertarians are flaming liberals when it comes to social issues, when it comes to civil liberties. A woman's right to choose, drug reform, immigration, marriage equality. He's not there."
Via Newsmax:
"Marriage equality, that's been a libertarian issue from day one. When you look at these issues and what's really changing in America in spite of the politicians, I'm going to argue that these have been libertarian issues for a long time."...

  1. Great, so in 2016 I could vote for a liberaltarian who loves the "Fair" Tax, or I could vote for a lite neocon in libertarian clothing. Unless a Rothbardian steps up to the plate, it looks like I'll be engaging in some principled non-voting.

  2. Right wing libwaps can complain all they want, but that sounds pretty libertarian to me. Gary is getting better with age.

    1. If GJ sounds libertarian to you, then you don't know shit about libertarianism.

  4. I'm libertarian, and I'm staunchly pro-life despite Mr. Johnson's caricature of libertarians as flaming liberals on social issues. Abortion is an act of aggression against an unborn human child. A woman exercised her right to choose when she chose to have sex. IMO, a libertarian position must harmonize both non-aggression and self-ownership, not give self-ownership a position of primacy to the exclusion of NAP. Cheers.
