A Koch Brothers Big Europe Connection?

Justin Raimondo has spotted a curious thing:
If one visits the ESFL (European Students for Liberty) web site, you see a lot of libwap stories that have little to do with the fundamentals of liberty and the non-aggression principle.

Frontpage headlines at ESFL today include:
A Liberal and Feminist Case for Surrogate Motherhood
Attacks and Death Threats: The Appalling Reality of the LGBT Movement in Serbia
It's not difficult to understand why an EU Commission employee would be promoting a "libertarian" outfit that features such topics. I can't think of a better way to derail and confuse those attempting to understand liberty than by libwap discussions.

The Koch brothers can be tied to ESFL from a number of directions. All the top youth leaders of ESFL have Students for Liberty email addresses and the web address appears to be a subdomain address of SFL, so clearly ESFL is an affiliate of the Koch-funded SFL.

And a number of speakers at the referenced Ukraine conference are employees of the Koch-funded Cato Institute.

It is also noteworthy that this conference is being held in Kiev, Ukraine, where a democratically elected government was overthrown via a  coup with the aid of the Empire.

Any decent advocate of liberty would be holding a conference in Eastern Ukraine, not Kiev.

Further, I am always suspicious of student leaders who run overseas protests, since many of the color revolutions and affiliated student groups can be traced back to US government operations (SEE In Profile: The Man Behind the Russian Protests).

Thus, it is curious that one of the featured speakers at the November 29-30 Kiev conference will be Vera Kichanova, who according to the ESFL web site, "was the brain behind a students’ protest action in Moscow State University against President Dmitry Medvedev."

To be sure Medvedev is a crony like any politician, but when it comes to cronies, he is the last guy in Russia that I would be protesting against. He understands the importance of property rights and the rule of law (SEE: Russian President Dimitri A. Medvedev Gets The Fundamentals). And further, he, like current Russian president Vladimir Putin, is a thorn in the side of the Empire.

So, after analysis, it is not surprising that a pro-EFSL tweet is coming out from a member of Big Europe agency.

The more important question is why are the Koch brothers funding this kind of thing?
