'Pretend It's A City'

Some of you will really enjoy a new Netflix series "Pretend It's A City," but not all.

If you really want a taste for what living in New York City is all about and what it was all about in the 1970s, this is the series for you.

The series is produced by Academy Award Winner Martin Scorsese, who interviews (more like chats) with Fran Lebowitz. He brilliantly stays out of the way except for occasionally showing himself laughing at one of Lebowitz's barbs that are packed throughout.

Lebowitz has a brilliant New York Jewish wit and that is what makes the series great. She is also an impressive observer of life and the difficulties of living in a city like New York.

As the authoritarian state continues to crack down on us, Lebowitz's attitude of how to survive inconveniencies is a lesson we all need to learn.

It is not libertarian-themed, but mercifully, there is very little in the way of political correctness in the 7-part series (I think I winced twice) but she is great in terms of being hardcore anti-cancel culture.

Plus Lebowitz is a big-time book lover. She states she owns 10,000 books.

Here is the trailer:

Note: She talks New York fast, so if you are not from the city you might want to turn on the subtitles to make sure you catch everything.

Once it gets too bad, I'm sure you'll all flee to Israel.
