Former President Donald Trump is considering whether to add his voice to the bid to recall Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom and could hold rallies in the state if a runoff election is triggered later this year, reports the Washington Examiner.
"He is weighing holding rallies in California over the next couple of months," according to a Bloomberg
Close Trump ally Richard Grenell is reportedly weighing a potential run.
A recent Berkeley IGS poll shows Newsom's approval rating declining sharply since September:
Californians are reevaluating their views of the job Gavin Newsom is doing as governor. The latest Berkeley IGS Pollconductedonline last week among over 10,000 registered voters finds just 46% approvingof Newsom’s performanceas governor, while 48% disapprove, 31% of whomdisapprove strongly. Thisrepresentsa big shift in public sentimentfrom last year when large majorities approvedof the job Newsom was doing.
As I have discussed before, Newsom and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo have to go.
Trump entering the fray would certainly wake up the more conservative parts of the inland (non-coastal) empire during a runoff election.

It would shut down the Democrats who are supporting the recall. Without the Democrats the recall will struggle to succeed.
ReplyDeleteRecall is pretty much a fait accompli at this point.
DeleteI hope Trump does not get involved. It's a grassroots effort right now based on Newsom's bad policies and blatant hypocrisy. If Trump gets involved it turns into a vote down the line situation and we know which way CA goes.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Trump is such a useful tool.
DeleteJust for the triggering effect, it would be fun to see Trump run for Governor of CA.
ReplyDeleteThe 'system' in California ain't gonna fix itself. It's a third or fourth-world country without the Deep State/Silicone Valley. One look at the vagrant and homeless cities and the amount of 'scamming' involved with the 'stimmmy' checks is proof enough. It's beyond repair politically.
