I have been telling people that they are blowing it by trying not to catch this cold/flu. That the best way to slow the virus is for more people to develop immunity to it. The best way to do that is to be exposed to it and for your immune system to develop antibodies against it. That is real herd immunity unlike some vaccines that need to be re-administer because their effects are not forever.
Now I have been saying this in a joking manner, but it is not a joke.
I think we have to be careful who we tell or joke with AND to qualify such advice for the truly healthy (non immune-compromised or chronic conditions) and before they do so to double check their Vitamin D3 etc levels first) and if they can self-isolate once they do without potentially impacting any roommates or family members.

DeleteIf the new normal takes some inspiration from Asia, it is likely to involve always-on electronic surveillance using phones.

Hopefully, the "quarantine hotels" idea from China doesn't catch on in the US.
