Two Statists, Marijuana and Health

Murray Sabrin
Two statists recently challenged the legalization of marijuana on health grounds.

Mike Kelly in a column titled: Before NJ legalizes weed, why not consider its impact on health?

and

Randy Bergmann in an article titled: NJ legal weed: 120 lawmakers will decide it.

But the great libertarian Murray Sabrin challenged them in an email to see if they really wanted to be consistent statists in their views:
Gentlemen:

After reading your columns you could have substituted tobacco or alcohol.  See below.  Many substances are potentially harmful to human beings including reading and embracing the ideas in The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf.  The consequences of these two books have resulted int he deaths of tens of millions of human beings. Should they be banned?  According to neurologist Dr. Perlmutter sugar and excessive grains are in effect "poisons" for human consumption.  See his Grain Brain.  Also see https://mises.org/library/mises-explains-drug-war

The war on drugs epitomizes the fallacy, "We are from the government and here to help you,"
