The top admiral overseeing US Naval forces in the Middle East, Vice Adm. Scott Stearney, has been found dead in his residence in Bahrain, according to The Daily Wire.

UPDATE 1
Stearney is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He subsequently entered flight training and was designated a Naval Aviator in April 1984. Stearney graduated from Navy Fighter Weapons School and holds a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson says Bahraini authorities and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service are coordinating but that “at this time, no foul play is expected.”

Defense officials told CBS News they are calling it an "apparent suicide."
