DISTURBING: Amazon in Advanced Talks to Move Its Headquarters to Washington D.C. Area

Last year, Amazon announced plans to open a second headquarters outside the Seattle region where its current headquarters sits.

Now comes word via The Washington Post that the company is in "advanced talks" to open its second headquarters in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, specifically Crystal City,VA.

I don't think any observers outside of the company had the D.C. area anywhere near the top of the list of prospective locations for the second headquarters.

According to The San Francisco Chronicle, it soes not appear Bezos has even visited many of the so-called finalist cities but D.C. he likely has (though it may be for other reasons--he owns The Washington Post).

His jet has touched down in the Los Angeles area more than a dozen times and made multiple trips to Boston, Dallas, Miami, the Washington area and the New York City area. Amazon named three Washington area locations (the District of Columbia, northern Virginia and Montgomery County, Maryland) finalists and two in the New York area (New York City and Newark, New Jersey).

But why would Amazon want to relocate to an area like D.C. that has little special in terms of Amazon-needed support outside of quick access to the Deep State?

The company says it plans to make an announcement on a second headquarters before year's end.
