UPDATE BELOW: Roger Stone responds.
Roger Stone associate Jerome Corsi is in plea negotiations with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, according to Corsi and another person with knowledge of the talks,
according to The Washington Post.
It is unclear if any plea deal would result in Corsi providing information against Stone, who appears to be a primary target of the Mueller team.
Corsi confirmed the plea negotiations after they were first reported by The Washington Post Friday. “It’s true. Your story is accurate,” he said, declining to comment further except to say there may be further developments next week.
Corsi provided research on Democratic figures during the campaign to Stone, a longtime Trump adviser. For months, the special counsel has been scrutinizing Stone’s activities in an effort to determine whether he coordinated with WikiLeaks. However, the notion that Stone had direct dealings with WikiLeaks and Julian Assange appears unfounded.
