Trump's Former Personal Attorney Appears to Be Set To Flip on Trump

During an exclusive interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, Donald Trump's former personal attorney signaled that he will cooperate with special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

He told Stephanopoulos that “My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will. put family and country first,” when Stephanopoulos pointed out that he wasn’t repeating past vows to “take a bullet” and “do anything” to protect the president.

Cohen added: “Once I understand what charges might be filed against me, if any at all, I will defer to my new counsel, Guy Petrillo, for guidance.”

“I will not be a punching bag as part of anyone’s defense strategy,” he said. “I am not a villain of this story, and I will not allow others to try to depict me that way.”

Cohen also criticized those members of the Trump campaign who participated in the Trump Tower meeting in June of 2016 with several Russians after being promised dirt on Hillary Clinton.

“I believe it was a mistake by those from the Trump campaign who did participate,” he said. "It was simply an example of poor judgment.”

  1. Notice the positioning of the two. Stephy in a firm chair, Cohen on a soft couch, lower, looks weak. Something one might expect when at a job interview. Lesson to be learned? Always try to be seated equal to your opposite. FWIW.

How dare he forget his sacred vows to defend the Pvssy-Grabber to the bitter end?

  3. This is how prosecutors work in the United States, not just Mueller. A prosecutor has decided you committed a crime, but there is a small problem: they have no evidence, even after months of searching with money as no object. (The prosecutor has unlimited funds courtesy of the taxpayer.) So he makes your life hell by threatening to file dozens of unrelated charges. Meanwhile you are spending tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands and face financial ruin if you don't get this over with quickly. So you plead guilty to something even though completely unrelated to the original charge. As the inimitable Mark Steyn said: the process is the punishment.
