BREAKING Ecuador Will Imminently Withdraw Asylum for Julian Assange and Hand Him Over to the UK

Glenn Greenwald reports:
Ecuador Will Imminently Withdraw Asylum for Julian Assange and Hand Him Over to the UK. What Comes Next?
Ecuador President Lenin Moreno traveled to London on Friday for the ostensible purpose of speaking at the 2018 Global Disabilities Summit (Moreno has been confined to a wheelchair since being shot in a 1998 robbery attempt). The concealed, actual purpose of the President’s trip is to meet with British officials to finalize an agreement under which Ecuador will withdraw its asylum protection of Julian Assange, in place since 2012, eject him from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, and then hand over the WikiLeaks founder to British authorities.
It is difficult for me to believe that Assange wasn't on the agenda when President Trump recently met with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

The CIA will get their man, most likely with the active cooperation of Trump.

UPDATE 1

Background via Greenwald:

[L]ast April, Trump’s then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo, now his Secretary of State, delivered a deranged, rambling, highly threatening broadside against WikiLeaks. Without citing any evidence, Pompeo decreed that WikiLeaks is “a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia,” and thus declared: “we have to recognize that we can no longer allow Assange and his colleagues the latitude to use free speech values against us.”

The long-time right-wing Congressman, now one of Trump’s most loyal and favored cabinet officials, also explicitly rejected any First Amendment concerns about prosecuting Assange, arguing that while WikiLeaks “pretended that America’s First Amendment freedoms shield them from justice . . . they may have believed that, but they are wrong.”

Pompeo then issued this bold threat: “To give them the space to crush us with misappropriated secrets is a perversion of what our great Constitution stands for. It ends now.”

  1. What if a huge crowd gathered at the embassy and surrounded Assange and escorted him to a plane to leave the UK?
Now wouldn't that be nice. Wish I were in London.

  2. Gotta love that last statement by the authoritarian creep Pompeo; that's some Orwellian Newspeak right there.

To be fair though: the 2nd Revolution would have begun by the Founding Fathers if they were alive and he and all other treasonous parties would be dealt with swiftly and effectively.

Want to know what's wrong with America? We need only look in the mirror.

    1. In a sense he’s right, though. The constitution enshrines the state and the truth destroys the state.

  3. I'll grant you that, Evan. It's actually the "To give them" part that really chaps my hide.

  4. We need someone like Judge Napolitano to explain the injustice of this all to Trump. I don't know if Trump has the intellectual horsepower to get it, but it's worth a shot.
